April 16, 2009

I couldn't agree more... it's sickening how much ABA therapy costs and it breaks my heart that it's not available to all kids.

I am also terribly worried about the possibility of prenatal screening and the implications that will follow if they isolate a gene or some other strong marker. It makes me tremble to think of it.

You're right on track -- and you are fortunate to have good insurance. Too many families don't. That's why US Senators Durbin, Casey and Menendez have sponsored the Autism Treatment Acceleration Act of 2009. This landmark legislation will give families the resources they need.

Senator Durbin worked with a variety of organizations, including Autism Speaks, ASA and The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP) while drafting this legislation. He is a real leader. We were proud that he came to TAP for his first media event on the new bill. You can view the news coverage on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCxcnzdTlC8.

I've being researching about Autism and reading your blog, I found your post very helpful :) . I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog!
