You are such a loving mom, KC. Protective Mama-bear for sure! Thank you for giving a peek in raising your wonderful son.

KC, I really appreciate your insights on autism. Your words share the challenges as well as the joy that your family has. I'm amazed at the way you hold down the fort!

Your #2 really hits home for me. My oldest son has Autism/Aspergers and that's how our road to a diagnosis began as well. We started out with a government run counseling program who insisted he was ODD and refused to test for anything else. It took us almost 3 years to finally find a doctor who knew his stuff enough to help us and finally help Gavin. It's so sad and it makes me wonder just how many children slip through the cracks.

Your #6 hits home, too. There are moments when Gavin wants so badly to play with others - even his cousins. His cousins try to understand but they are children and it's difficult. I wish he had friends who understood but even his friends at school who have Autism/Aspergers don't really seem to understand. It's just so difficult for them to make friends, even with children with the same diagnosis. I wish it weren't that way though.
